Did have a bullfrog scarf down a popping bug once when I was a kid. Frog was surprisingly scrappy.
Released it without any apparent permanent damage.

Caught my 1st ever bass today, not including stripers. Also my 1st fish this year. 14" Largemouth on Texas rig Yum Dinger. Only fish for the day, fished for about 3 hours. Beautiful, peaceful day, sunny and 80.
Good for you, I'm a Connecticut guy too. If you don't mind, where is photo taken? Looks like Connecticut River by Middletown, just north of Arrigonni Bridge. No pressure if ya want to keep spot private we all will understand.
When I first spooled up my pike baitcast rig with braid, I had my drag set too loose and thumbed the spool to slow down a strong run. Cut me pretty nicely. lesson learned the hard way. Be careful.
Better. be careful with that. We just had a bunch of hook removal techniques on the digest just in case of a mishap.
Better be careful with that practice. We just had a few days of digest entries about hook removal techniques, just in case!
Went on an offshore trip years ago and got so sick it wasn’t good. Started staggering around and then chummed up breakfast, followed up with yellow stomach bile. Puked so bad my eyes got really badly bloodshot.
Truly awful day for me.
Tried again using Scopalamine (spelling)? on next trip. Used a patch. This was much better: no vomiting but made me woozy. Didn’t care much for that. Not terrible, but uncomfortable enough to end my tuna pursuits for good.
Prefer fresh water with nice scenery anyway, and charters are way expensive $$$ anyhow.
Only salt water I fish now is surf casting. No lakes around here in Connecticut big enough to present a problem.
My personal favorite of these, ( quote ) : “I’m going to be a teacher” . God help us.
I’d think with those spiny pyramid things, most fish that would normally
predate on them would soon learn to leave ‘em be. Looks pretty damn
Ugly too. May taste good, who has eaten one ?
To me the cool thing about tarpon is they LOOK so cool, almost like they are mechanical or robots or something.
Their metallic appearance is really nice.
None anywhere near my locality ( Connecticut). but caught one in western Florida gulf once and it was a blast. Plenty of carp up here though, no bonefish either. To each his own.
I have a friend who claims acupuncture gives him relief for months @ a time, then he must repeat.
Native Korean acupuncturist who belongs to multi generational family of practitioners.
If you can afford it I’d say it’s worth a try. Don’t imagine VA, Medicare, or most private
insurances will cover this. I’ll track him down and ask.
Might to be tough to find this therapy unless you live in major population center with large oriental
resident base. Friend lives in N Y C . Good luck.
Great advice. I use Mepps, about the same thing, in line spinner. Murders trout, including
stocked hatchery fish. That shows me that the attack response is ingrained by the fish’s genetic
Predisposition. These lures work great for many other species as well. Just try to size lure to what
size bait are available in the waters that you fish. If you don’t catch and release, stomach content will
be a valuable indication of proper sizing.
Film was nominated for three Oscars. Won the one for cinematography.
My favorite film mainly about fishing is Jacknife, with Robert DeNiro & Ed Harris. Movie revolves
Around two Viet vets, one very troubled, and opening day of trout season, adjusting back to civilian
society, romance, friendship. It doesn’t hurt that it is shot predominantly in my home town, and fishing takes
place where I often went myself on opening day.
Beautiful mixed bag. Thanks for sharing.
After washing down rod initially, take it apart and rinse ferrules well, if you ever want to get the rod
apart again. Don’t ask how I know this!
Worked better for me than all the secret recipes I ever tried. Hard to find in bait/tackle shops these days.
Keeps forever without spoiling.
I carp fish to check my drag settings/operation, then release them. Lots of fun for kids, hook up and then hand the kid the rod. If they tire ( kids ) take over, no sense in discouraging them from continuing to fish.
