Looks like you need parts #122 and #123 to replace the “stand” with a washer/spacer and cover

According to my research, the reel stand serves two purposes. 1. It is machined to a precision weight to counterbalance the handle and reduce vibration. At the same time 2. it protects the body of the reel when set down. They are available for several reels and vary in design from very simple to very ornate, or cheap to expensive depending on who you are trying to impress. Nice reel. I am still looking forward to a report on quality of operation and why it is worth all that money. Thanks and enjoy.

bapa... Counterbalance would seem to make the most sense. But, without additional supporting hardware I don't see how it could offer more protection. Thanks for your research effort. . ......... ......... ......... ......... .......... ......

80 meters of 8# fluoro, that's the max printed on the spool. 20 pound braid will sit right on there no problem.
Can somebody tell me what's up with the side opposite the crank? What is that? What's its purpose? I've never seen that on a reel, or a reel like that.

Spirit: I have never seen such an attachment. Ordinarily, many US. and European spinning reels have a reversible handle, so you can switch handles to suit your preference. This extra gear may be suggesting something else. You may have received an instruction manual but in Japanese! Being an old salt, you probably can read it, but if not, perhaps your computer can offer a translation. Just Sayin...RJS

That is a nice reel. I think the other side is to change the crank handle from one side to the next. Have you looked at the ACC Crappie rods? That reel would look nice on a 12' ACC.

Apparently Spirit, the model 2500S, was made and sold for the Japanese market only, that's why all the available schematics and paperwork in only in Japanese. If you look at the schematic, at the bottom of the picture, there's a part that looks like the shaft, and its not connected to the drawing, like the rest of the parts. #141 If you can find someone to read the Japanese description, you can find out if thats it.

You the man Fred I'm kind of worried about Spirits spool on the reel it looks like a finesse spool which means if he wants to put a bunch of line on it he won't be able to unless it is light weighted braid hence my suggestion to load the reel up with the equivalent diameter cheep mono to find out how many yards of braid you can put on it I'm sure you could purchase a standerd spool for it I can just imagine what the regular spool for that reel would cost if you could get one🇺🇸😀👍

This what the "aftermarket" spool has printed on it. I don't believe it's aftermarket. Do you mean that you think it's counterfeit? I'd believe that before I'd believe aftermarket.

No not that it's counterfeit Spirit it's that a lot of the Japanese fisherman are into the finesse type of fishing and a shallow spool like yours is one of the items they purchase to set their reels up that way meaning very light line and not a heck of a lot on the reel to cast micro lures if you have the new Bass Pro saltwater Catolog on page #85 it shows the reel with the standard spool you could probably pickup the picture on their web site. I maybe wrong that reel might of been made for finesse fishing there's a site on You Tube called the REEL TEST check. Him out he specializes in foreign reels Good Luck my man😀👍🎣Just clicked on YouTube they have numerous videos on your reel check out some of the videos some models come with the shallow spool haven't seen any with the right sided attachments ill keep looking ( lots of videos plug in your reel on search on YOUTUBE)

Your spool looks just like the one in the parts list Spirit, it's just a shallow, long cast type spool.
Seeing the other shaft up close, makes it look like an adapter for an electric motor, or something. Not just a stand to lean against.

That was my first impression as there is to much going on with it to be just some sort of stand I would think in would get fill with dirt looked at the videos for the stands if it is one it just screws on like the cap😶

My reel doctor will answer a lot of my questions I'm sure. If not, I'll keep researching. Thank you all for your inputs.

I'm an old fart, 74, and have been fishing most of my life. I don't understand what all the to-do is about concerning a very expensive reel. It is a beauty for sure but in my opinion waaaay over priced. I bought a new reel this year, a
Cadence Spinning Reel-Elate 10+1 BB Light Weight & Durable-Stainless Steel Main Shaft, Die-Casting Handle & Double Anodized Spool-Ultra Smooth Powerful Reel with Graphite Body &Felt Washer and this reel is the smoothest reel I have ever seen or used, is perfectly balanced, and is good looking. All for the low price of $50.99 from Amazon. Does the Stella actually catch more fish? Help me to understand why someone would buy such an expensive reel unless they just want to have the most expensive reel to brag about. I suppose bragging rights do come at a cost sometimes.

I'm sure it's smooth, compared to a cane pole with a zebco 202. No one said it was great he always want one and got it.

I don't think that part on the right hand side is complete otherwise it would not need O rings something fits over it

I am also 74, just like you. And I don't remember ever not fishing. I also wondered what the to-do was over these Stella reels, but was never willing to shuck out the bucks to find out for myself. I finally decided to hell with it, I'm just gonna get one and then I can brag about it on the Fishing Stage. So. Neener Neener. I've got a Stella, and you don't.
Now go rain on someone else's parade.

By the way, I've got a couple of the less expensive (well under 100 dollars) Shimano reels that I bought over 20 years ago that have seen some pretty heavy use and they still operate today as well as the day I opened their boxes. I've also purchased during that time some other reels, not Shimanos, and they have all been retired for one reason or another related to performance. I don't know who makes your 50 dollar Cadence, but let's talk after you've used it for 20+ seasons.

I looked em up and your Cadence reel was manufactured in China. That is not necessarily a bad thing. I'm sure they can get their hands on quality materials and follow the basic standards of quality assurance. Doesn't mean they do, because they are totally unregulated. The Chinese are generally more prone to shave manufacturing expenses by hiring child labor or by using "prisoners" and paying them nothing at all. Nice. There's really not a lot you personally or I personally can do about our government's trade relations with China. Except for one thing. Don't buy that crap. That's what I do. I'll shut up now.

By the way friends, talked to my reel doc this afternoon, he's still in business, told me to get it over to him and he'll tear it apart and put it back together for $25.00. And I asked him about that "reel stand". He's real anxious to see it, has no idea.

Any of y'all would like to use my guy here in Sacrament just PM me and I'll let you have his phone number. You can ship to him and he will get your reel back to you. He does good work, and he's very reasonable. I've used him several times and I've referred members to him. I've never gotten any negative feedback on him.
