After our frost melted, I headed out to Beseck for a few hours. 44° at the ramp @ 10am, and the water temperature was 56.8°. Only a light breeze when I launched, but it picked up on and off all day. Most of my Bass spots were vacant but I caught a 2lb2oz Largemouth near the dam after an hour of looking. I checked the shallow end of the lake but saw no signs of beds. The warmest water I found was 59.5°. I fished docks all around the lake with no luck, but did catch a 1lb2oz buck on a blowdown. There were clouds of algae streaking the water, about 1-2 feet deep, all around the lake. Kinda unusual for this lake. It was an enjoyable day, and the trees around the lake are ahead of the one's at my house, so maybe spring is actually gonna happen. 🤣

Glad you’re able to get out and catch a few. Our trees have been full now for about a month. Plenty of shade here and we’re needing it. Already hitting the upper 80’s.

Thanks Stephen. Everything is behind schedule here, but finally moving in the right direction.

Thanks Ryan. I think the big ones are still laying low in the deep water. Hopefully it will warm up soon and they'll start coming up shallow.

Supposed to be nice and warm Monday Fred, maybe you can get back out. Nice fish. Stripers running crazy here now. Probably in the Sound soon if not there yet.

Unfortunately Martin I'm getting ready to head out of town for a few days. The Stripers are definitely in the Sound now, and in fact are showing up in Rhode Island in the last week or so.

Good for you getting out there and avoiding the skunk. Still a little cold for me although they’re saying high 60s next week. Also saying it will be hotter than normal this summer with plenty of hurricanes this season. Mother natures pissed.

Thanks Mark. I'm not sure about the hotter temperatures , but they've been crying wolf about the increase in hurricanes for 20 yrs and they haven't been correct yet.
We're still waiting for the oceans to rise and drown us all.

I don’t believe most of what’s said. The oil spill in the gulf was “the end of the gulf” Between man and Mother Nature it was restored in less than a year.
I see one change—the world changed from black and white to color

Unfortunately, more like 5,000 shades of gray.

Glad you got out there Fred .wind here has been pretty rough . Had every intention of taking my kayak out to a few small lakes and ponds around here, but noooo , when I saw what the wind was doing around here past few days, that wasn’t happenin’. Am curious if they have fish stocking programs at those lakes you fish ?

Thanks Chuck. This Spring has been the worst one for fishing in a long while. The river lakes are still loaded with floating timber and debris.
Some of the lakes are stocked with trout and a few with salmon. Some others are stocked with channel catfish, and a couple with walleye. The state doesn't stock any bass or crappie, so it's all natural reproduction. They also have a pike program but it's very limited.
