Turned into a sunfish catching morning

On the water at Blue Marsh Lake this morning 8 AM, fished 2 hours for catfish using a slip sinker and nightcrawlers while also casting lures for any fish that would bite in 25 feet of water, caught nothing. Some of the lures used were chatterbait and spinner both with plastic minnow trailers. Moved to a shallower area of the lake to catch the old reliable sunfish and give my better half some fun catching. She caught a bunch using small worms and a slip bobber. I continued using lures, but still nothing biting. I did not see any fish being caught by around 30 boats of fisherpersons I passed or was fishing nearby. Water temp was 57 and an overcast day. We departed the lake around lunchtime, it was a fun day on the water along with grabbing lunch and ice cream on the way home. Can’t wait to try catching something again soon.

DV, appears you and the wife had a fine time. Blue Marsh used to hold some fine crappies among other things. Haven’t fished it in probably 10 years or so though.

Sorry that the gamefish didn't cooperate DV, but the Sunfish kept the skunk out of the boat anyway. Glad you guys had a good day on the water and afternoon as well. You'll get'em next time.

Fred, I was no help keeping the skunk out of the boat, am glad she did. Hopefully the fish get bigger as the season goes on.Apr 27, 2024 21:08:50 #
