Close call, but you handled it well. Mastercard did a great job, and had the right idea for it's customer relationship too !

Hey Nutz I just opened my iPad to see I got another email from pay pal about my purchase today this is about the 4th or 5th one recently and I’ve never used pay pal!! I just delete them right away and also from my trash can. I’m old but not senile. When ever I see something calling me Lawrence I know it’s fake, I only use my birth name on special documents! Got email that my Amazon account is locked. Another scam they even provided a web site to confirm this. Deleted the email.

Hey Frank I got an email from citi bank Mastercard last week that they blocked a charge for over $800 from china and that it didn’t look like it was something I would buy looking at my normal charges!! So we called citi bank and told them to cancel the card and send me a new one, and asked me if a few other charges were ok and I confirmed they were okay. I had this happen a few years ago when tackle warehouse got hacked and had go thru this before. There’s always the chance this can happen using the internet to buy things. Larry W.

Hello,
I have been fishing since 5 years old with my grandfather, Papa. Spent many a lake fishing with my father as well. Done a lot of lake fishing and deep sea fishing. Now passing it on to my son. Hope to learn some new tricks and some old ones while here.
Thanks,
Carl P.

Welcome to the site Carl, I’m in Alpine and have been on the site for around 5 years and don’t miss a day either looking or posting. There are a lot of Californians on the site. Fishing is fishing no matter where anyone lives so you will get good information no matter who posts info. I’m a native of San Diego! And mainly fish SD bay, but have fished most lakes in SD. F&R Larry W. PM me if you want info on fishing SD bay.

So I started laying out how my seat and trolling motor would fit and I figures out it wont work like I had planed. The trolling motor is way to long to mount in the middle in front of the seat like I hoped, so the only way I can see it working well is to mount it on the left pontoon. That way I have room for my feet and not have the seat to far back from the center of the boat. No I don't plan to mount the seat on the car rim. lol I will most likely angle the foot control up in the front to make it more ergonomic. What would be a good water proofer for the plywood that I don't cover with the Poor mans Fiberglass?

Hopefully the plywood is marine grade, if not I don’t know if any sealer will work in the long run? Ask your paint company what to use, and if applying fiberglass over it will stick to it. You don’t want anything to go wrong on something that’s going into water. Good luck with your pontoon boat, it looks good. F&R

Very interesting interview with him. Google Duane Eddy rock and roll and race in the 50s

I haven’t seen any response about racism from anyone so here’s my up bringing. I grew up in the 40s and 50s in east San Diego. Ca and didn’t even know what segregation was because I went thru all my school years without any African American students but a lot of Hispanics and Jewish and Italians and we were all friends. I lived in an upper middle class neighborhood and if any African Americans lived close enough to my schools they would have gone to my schools and I don’t think anyone would have thought anything different of them.

My Son was lucky enough to get an Opening Day reservation for Barrett Lake (San Diego) today! We had a very good day of fishing and catching. My son, his buddy and I caught about 70 LMB! Here’s a couple of pictures.

Hey Ranger I forgot to mention in my former reply that a lot of hardcore bass fishermen back then were catching 100+ a day. I looked up Barrett on SDFISH just now and saw the prices now and the bad condition the lake is in now. I gave up on SD lakes in 2016 and now fish SD bay no cost and best day for 2 of us was 176 mostly spotted bay bass in 8 hrs fishing south bay in 2015.

I got to fish barrett the second and third year it opened up to fishing I think it was in the 90s. It was only open for duck hunting season for years before opening for fishing. When the main road in washed out it was closed for years. We caught around 25 or 30 each for 3 of us, but none were over 2 1/2 lbs.And we couldn’t take in our own boats and had to be ushered in at certain times and same certain times to leave. The road in was on private property. I had a friend who new someone that got us in without going thru the lottery system they had then. I think we paid $25 each plus boat rental. It was cluster back then so we went 2 times and done!!

You should have told that gray pelican he was about 10 miles away from home! Before I got my boat I fished on shelter island pier and we couldn’t take our eyes of the mackerel bait we were using because they weren’t shy about stealing it just inches from us.

I had my grandson Tyler meet me at SanV this morning to do a little catching. As we are leaving the dock, he says "Papa" we should have a bet on first, biggest and most..........you are on!!! Ten minutes into our first stop, I announce that you just lost the first bet. I told him our goal for the day was 20 fish. Couple of minutes later I land a nice 2.6 and let him know that he is down on all three bets and that he had better get going. He then lands the next three, and I am thinking maybe I should have kept my mouth shut. I then go up 4-3 in the next half hour, and he says maybe we should make a move. Alrightee, that we shall do lad. We get to our next stop, and first cast, he gets one, next cast, another, then another. Not suppose to be going this way. He lets me know that I am now down 6-4. Hmmm, better get going old man! I get the next three and take a commanding 7-6 lead. A pelican shows up and starts following us everywhere we go, and proceeds to start trying to get our baits right next to the boat. Stayed with us for quite awhile, was hoping to get one and feed him just to get him away. He finally leaves and we get back to catching. Over the next hour the score goes to 7-7. 8-8, 9-9 and now we are both anxiously trying to get #10 first. He hooks up with a nice fish (about 3lb) and it jumps about 6 ft from the boat and spits the hook, bummer for him, lol! A minute later, I land #10. Now we just need one more for our 20. I manage two more, and it is getting close to leaving time. He says he really want to catch his 10th, so I tell we will head toward the dock and make one stop near there so he can try for that fish. On his first cast , you guessed it, he hooks up and lands a nice 2+ and we head for the docks. I am also in the process of teaching him how to tow the boat and put it in and out of the lake. He did his first successful backing the trailer into the water and hooking the boat up. Proud Papa here!!! I know the story is a little lengthy, but we don't get many days like this so decided to share. Enjoy the pics!

Great day with Tyler!!! You’re teaching him the right way to fish and towing and launching the boat. He’s learning from the best “catcherman”Im doing some “catching” up around the property before fixing leaking LENA so we can hit the bay again. LW.

There was still segregation in the 50's. There were "white" stations and "black" stations. Many times the lyrics were also "modified". R&R was said to be "white man's words with black man's music".
