So I caught a 10lb drum fishing for bass. Great day on Bois D'Arc!

Bois D’Arc Fishing Report May 7th, 2024.

Fishing was tougher than normal. 3 of us fished the banks all morning and came up almost empty (2-6' of water). We did however catch everything but a bass. See pics. After lunch we changed things up and found some bass in brush piles in deeper water thanks to an amazing guy (@Earnest Vance) that motioned us over. He had caught 20 in this one spot. He told us he was leaving and we should fish it. Our first 2 casts we landed doubles and proceeded to catch another 20 bass from that spot. We tried fishing 100 yards before it and after it and nothing. It was just in that spot that was maybe 25’ wide. After that we left and fished the same depth north/west of the bridge and found more bass. We ended up catching almost 40 bass after lunch. They moved to 8-15’ of water. Soft plastic creature baits did the trick. (blue craw) Crazy day of fishing. See the 10lber I caught in the pictures 😆

Quick Update: Bois D'Ace Lake Almost Full!
As of this morning it's got less than a foot to go...and it's still raining...
If you have fished Bois D'arc one of the hardest challenges is finding productive shoreline to fish...The good fishing is usually covered in a thick forest that has been recently flooded. The trees are so thick you can't get any boats back there....but we all know there are fish back there...as the lake rises, the shoreline goes even further back...it's definitely a challenge. I am seeing some people take electric sawzalls with them. Looking forward to seeing the lake full and going in behind all the people's sawzall trails. 😉

Lake Ray Hubbard Bass Fishing Report - April 22nd, 2024
Wind: 12-15mph
Depth 3-5 Feet
Temps: 68 degrees
Clarity: Stained/Dirty
The lake is fishing well, after 2 inches of rain and a cold snap a couple days ago the fishing had slowed down a bit. Today the bass are active and moving back into shallow water. Male bass are eating well. We caught a bunch today in several spots on the lake. This is a good sign that the full moon is signaling time for another spawn.
Alternate between fast moving baits that mimic shad and creature baits or jigs. The male bass are gorging because they will be sitting on nests for a week or so. Now's a good time to get to the lake. Since they are shallow you will be able to find them near shore.(if shore fishing)

Hope this helps.

And here's why it will be great in the future and kick out bigger and bigger fish, people will be letting the "donkeys" go rather than keeping limits...just sayin

The current bass limits only let you keep bass 16 inches and under... any bass 16-24 must be let go... if you catch 24 inches or over. You can hold it in your live well and wait for TPWD to come get an official weight but you must stop fishing... It's the only exception of catching an "Over".

“These fish are mean and they got shoulders -me”
Incredible fishing, we hooked over 50 fish yesterday. The largest being conservatively 8+ but it got off at the boat 😞see the video(soon as I figure out how to post it here...I'll post in youtube). The lake is easy to run below the bridge. Didn’t run into any trees. Bring heavy braid line and your heavy duty flipping pole. The trees and brush are super thick. 17lb floro or heavier worked for us too. Try to find grassy shorelines it’s hard to actually get to the shoreline because of flooded trees but we found more fish there. Also look for the green on the leaves and bushes to flip to. It just seemed like most of the fish were not on as much dead wood as the live green bushes. Get there early the parking fills up fast. Morning and evening bite were fire. If your worried about stumps, My trolling motor and lower end did fine. Never hit a stump like I did on Fork even in heavy cover. You can get your boat scratched though. The trees tops are thin and wiry. Most fish that were caught were solid 2-3lber with occasional 4+ kickers. I did a couple lives on DFW Fishing Forum explaining conditions and tactics for yesterday. You can watch those for a full report and a breakdown of the lures I used.

This is gonna be the best bass fishery in Texas in 2-4 years when these 1000’s of 2lbers are 5-8lbers.

If this report is helpful please considering subbing to my Youtube:CruzfishingTV...

I'm tryin to get to 1000 subs.. Thanks

PS: The crankbait was from TackleCoop called : Adult Gill Violation https://tacklecoop.com/product/adult-gill-vitalion-84
It's a custom lure so I don't know if they have any more.

What a beautiful fish. I can't wait to catch me on that big. 5 and a half lbs is the biggest I landed here in SC.

Why don't you guys come to Texas? I know some guides and we can plan a big trip everyone split the cost of the guides and all go the same week/weekend.

This is open for anyone on Fishingstage. The fishing is doing amazing this year on Lake Fork. We are right in the middle of the spawn we have about 2 months before fishing gets tough.

If you guys want I can set it up/coordinate it for you. Lodging food/guides and most importantly big bass!

I am not a guide just an FYI, more like a host. I can point you to the best food and fishing in the areas.
if you are coming to Texas let me know.
